GROWING SCOUTING

People often wonder what they can do to help Grow Scouting…if you wonder about that, learn about new ways and resources to help promote and grow your unit.

Plan your units Ideal Year of Scouting

  • Successfully provide a program to all families with minimal costs, while reaching your units Journey to Excellence objectives.

  • Provide an unparalleled experience for your Scouts and help them reach their adventure goals.

The Steps to an Ideal Year of Scouting

1) Plan Your Program

  • Determine what activities and adventures you want to provide

  • Map out a annual program calendar to include den meetings, unit meetings, unit activities, council activities, summer resident camp and other high adventure experiences

  • Create a unit contact form to provide families

2) Fund Your Program

A well structured promotional plan is crucial to Scout engagement and motivation

3) Grow Your Program

  • Utilize the Customized Unit Membership Planning Worksheet (click here)

  • Schedule a Fall Recruitment Join Scouting Night to occur prior to September 30th.

  • August – Attend your schools “meet and greet your teacher nights, open houses or back to school nights”.  Usually the week before or of school starts

  • Continue Social Media, Facebook, Twitter, etc… promotions of your JSN

  • Day of your JSN, have Scouts wear uniforms to school

  • Send home School fliers announcing your JSN night.

  • Conduct Youth Talks at local schools to promote your sign-up night (help provided by council staff where you do not have some available to do the “talk”)

  • Hold your Join Scouting Night before September 30, 2022

*For every NEW completed paid youth application submitted, the YOUTH will receive a FREE Estes Model Rocket.  NEW youth applications must be submitted prior to October 31st, 2022.

4) Train Your Leaders

While YPT training is required, encourage new leaders to take position specific training as well as other supplemental trainings that can be found and completed online.
